better late 04:01
guess i’ve spent the better part of a life so far. just a little change left in my pockets, down with the lint and the blues. now i’m diggin’ in the corners and the couch for the time to spend on you. for time to spend on you. CHORUS better late is better the earlier it comes. ‘cuz it’s taken everywhere you’ve been to get to who you are. so one step closer to me shouldn’t be that far. - ar - ar oh - oh hey-a hey - a hey hey ah-uh-ah hey-a hey-a hey hey aw-aw ow grew a little too comfy in my single seated view. so much you don’t see looking from your own side of the room. now i’m learning to move over to let some other eyes through. (c) what’s been wrong with the word. just a slight move of the hand. same small move for an instant as a long slow burn. eventually i’ll learn to understand. (c) watched an old dog roll. hadn’t seen that before. always been told new tricks, ain’t worth the learning. but skeptics just can’t get tickets to the show. eventually i’ll learn to understand (c)

sometimes you need to let them all fall down. let the pieces lose their places. will your momma cry. will your daddy grieve. your friends don’t under stand they just believe. CHORUS when you’re moving at the speed of someone going somewhere lonesome, it gives you time to find out what you need. treasures of your time fly by and as the crystal crashes to the wall. you feel what’s in your eyes ain’t love at all. sometimes you need to let them all fall down. if you need to say no, say no. if you need to run, just run. ‘cuz time isn’t too late if your life isn’t done. C it’s amazing how little time it takes to break a heart. especially when you never held it quite right from the start. and sometimes you need to let them all fall down. the taste of mean will fade and life looks good again. and sometimes you need to let them all fall down. C if you find the ticket you don’t have to take the ride. it’s a long way to hang on the ring of compromise. taste can’t run your life. and polite shouldn’t breed. now there is no time to need to breathe. so tell her no and let go. let the bloody pieces land. and only lift the ones you need to fill your empty hands. C

don't settle 05:31
CHORUS don’t bring your own box, they’ll pack you up soon enough. with the bones and the dust. don’t bring your own box. trading time for familiar skin is a lonely way to live. don't settle down. don’t waste your turn. don’t wait for the flame to burn. why settle and waste the rain for fear of the sun. girl never thought of getting, to the place she’s gotten to. everybody tells her what she needed to do. find yourself a nice boy and say it was your plan never mind the lack of magic coming from his hands. somehow with the lights off, it seems to disappear. just paint on a pretty face and keep the colors clear, no one expects anything when you’ve passed the prime. least of all to stay within the lines. (C) every little misstep, shaking your ground and the sanity you’re building has started falling down. she climbed the hill to see the sun. had to climb back down to find someone. willy wonka had it right, you can’t always go outside. search for the perfect, wait for a prince with no fear. they’ve told you all the stories, while watching in the dark. shouldn’t you find the moment, they’ve promised you a spark. (C) everyone says let go, stop dreaming in the night. like a million little pieces, hanging in and out of sight. she can’t find the finish line but she’s running all the time. she’s running all the time. some day i guess she’ll stand still, stop waiting for her turn. if the universe stops calling and the silence isn’t heard. she’ll say, sorry if i don’t cry. i’ve already had my ride. i wouldn’t change a moment to fit into your eyes. who said it would be better if i’d tied it up in lies. (C) don’t settle

hold me 04:45
hold me. and tell me nothing’s wrong. let me love you. i need you to be strong. let me love you, until my dying day. hold me and never go away. it’s only a dream the children play. think that life can be that way. so stand with me and we will dive into the dream. stand with me and we will dive into the dream. there’s color that paints my view of you. try to live like pictures do. hold me, forever like today. wrapped inside languid lines, that blur with words and faded light. love this way will never go away. it’s always the things the children say. they’re told that life, can be that way. so stand with me and we will dive into the dream. stand with me and we will dive into the dream. diluted are the minds who think troubles fade with time. who say hold me and hide the world from me. there is no way to skip the ride. no dance to let you truly hide, no waiting for life to give you anything. it’s only a dream the children see wish that’s how their lives will be. so stand with me and we will dive into the dream.‑ stand with me and we will dive into the dream. it’s only a dream the children play. they know that life can be that way. so stand with me and we will dive into the dream. hold me and we will dive into the dream. hold me and never go away

name 03:34
do da doo... she had a name like no other. lips that made you wonder. eyes that set fire to diamonds. hair that was envy red. do da doo... words nevers crooned in the air. lovers never whispered without thinking. chase questions ’round the room, ‘til the doubts leave the lonely. do da doo... she stands in a line without description. follows rules of her own mind’s making. pulls honesty along on a string. heart too full to hold. do da doo... time never spent in photos. friends never pressed and tied. paint the house a new color. always keep the trimming bright. do da doo... she had a mind you didn’t mind. a way that kept you warm on wednesdays. a name like no other. one no one ever learned by heart. do da doo... she had a name like no other. lips that made you wonder. eyes that set fire to diamonds. hair that was envy red. do da doo... she had a name like no other. one no one ever learned by heart. do da doo...

pearls 03:56
CHORUS look at the lady in her pearls. never lost the looks she had from when she was a girl. the lightness in her eyes. the velvet of her skin. it’s only letting go when you’ve forgotten to begin. look at the lady in her pearls. looking at the times when she was young. a girl with all the means. every moment framed in silver, the days, her eyes, her dreams a lifetime spent collecting, many friends with all their charms still she feels her children and her lovers in her arms. (C) her wrists were small and gentle, as her hand reached for her hair. brushing back the pieces that were no longer there. still i think she sees that lineless face in the mirror. time has watched her chase away the memories of fears. (C) she watched her friends fade. even had her loved ones slip away. such a gentle smile, even standing at their grave, but never did she falter, or let her stature curve. she held her love for-ever, never losing it to tears. (C) look at the lady in her pearls...

a long cold day in the spring, ushered in the little pretty thing. the stars looked down, moved out of line and said ‘she gets to earn what she gets this time. now she liked to dance in her red shoes more than any other. especially near the windows where the red curtains hung. for the lights shared their shine. if only for a little time. and for that time she feels like a lucky one. oh a lucky one. CHORUS seems there’s always a cloud in my silver lining. always a cloud on my horizon. but i’m hanging on to that silver lining. oh… oh… growing into hand-me-downs, that had to hang not touch the ground made it so hard to lift her head. she kept a smile that’s cold on her face instead. and even on days when blues feel grey and every turn turns cold. she’d wind the heroes up and let them spin on the floor. it made her life feel bigger, maybe than it was, and for that time she feels like a lucky one. oh a lucky one (C) once in a while when the world slows down she can check up on her style. she says to the stars with a gained pride, i’ve earned my light this time. now she liked to paint her daydreams with matching colored fire. and let the dogs keep barking at the door. for the lights will share their shine, if only for a little time, and for that time she feels like a lucky one. oh a lucky one. superman 03:22
superman lost his cape one day, looking for a place to play. wonder what he’s doing now. take a chance on what you’ll find chasing around an empty mind. corridors filled so plain. superman lost his cape one day. what are you looking for behind the lonesome door. fear will find you when you run away. superman lost his cape one day. no one knows where to go. no one knows where to go. walk across time to find a place you left for far behind. darkened is the space of mind. he lost his cape one day. something always follows, something else you find and heroes stumble all the time. wonder what he’s doing now. superman lost his cape one day, looking for a place to play. wonder what he’s doing now. never fear to touch the sky. dream now of getting by. superman lost his cape one day. no one knows where to go. no one knows where to go. trembling shadows hold you, with strength you’ve never known. when you haven’t had to try. no one knows where to hide. superman lost his cape one day, looking for a place to play. wonder what he’s doing now. what are you looking for, behind the lonesome door. fear will find you when you run away. superman lost his cape one day. superman lost his cape one day.

two nickles 03:32
think i’ve been lied to one too many times. can’t trust two nickels for a dime. there isn’t any way to know, when you’re holding at fools gold. when all you hear, is what you’re told. how many lies have there been. how many lies until the end. can’t trust two nickels for a dime. what is it about my face, that brings the actor to the stage. by the time we’ve reached act two, there’s only a ghost of you, the truth has left without a trace. how many lies have there been. how many lies until the end. can’t trust two nickels for a dime. must look like a pigeon in a pen. magician seems to know the words missing from my head. the words of a dove, feels like i’m watching from above. can’t trust two nickels for a dime. think i’ve been lied to one too many times. can’t trust two nickels for a dime. the walls are painted like the sky. the sky is hiding in disguise. and still you can’t believe what you’re shown. how many lies have there been. how many lies until the end. can’t trust two nickels for a dime. jaded green medallions hang guarding everything. the ice keeps getting thin. holding nothing falling in. can’t trust two nickels for a dime. all the brilliant ones know the answers where they stand. they haven’t got the question by the hand. how many lies have there been. how many lies until the end. can’t trust two nickels for a dime. think i’ve been lied to one too many times. can’t trust two nickels for a dime. catch the pain in a pail. drop it down a well. maybe drowning in fresh water will break the liars spell. how many lies have there been. how many lies until the end. can’t trust two nickels for a dime. think i’ve been lied to one too many times. can’t trust two nickels for a dime. (can’t…)(can’t…)

girl running ‘round chasing some old dream. dancing as the music plays. playing as the boys want to play. she’ll run to see the day change and wait to hear the story’s end. just set the needle back and start over again CHORUS as she cries, when’s my turn? - to ride the painted horse. to sail the sea of life - - . when’s my turn, to live the love you dreamed of in your darkest nights when’s my turn? doo doo dooUndoo when’s my turn? doo doo dooUndoo - - -. five minutes in the door. bag lay on the floor -. coat leaves the hand. feet leave the stand, not to come back a-gain ya know that boy moved like the rain. she was a good girl. something just said right. so she’ll pass the time away as if the night could be the day. something just said right. (C) reunions are’t as sweet as the first go ‘round but she’ll go ‘round just the same. she dances in his mind. as he waits for days. it’s sweet enough every time. ‘cuz ya know he wasn’t born to love her and she was raised to speak her mind. and you know good lovin’ is good lovin’ every time. doo doo dooUndoo. every time doo doo dooUndoo. (C) when’s my turn?

never mind 04:30
CHORUS somebody told me one time, you can’t dig you way to gold it’s a myth of a magic man, never mind what you’re told somebody told me one time , you can’t dig your may to gold never mind what you’re told fate had to find you number, luck has to know your name if you want to be a wonder, they gotta let you in the game you can’t knock down the walls, you can’t run around the end just don’t stand in line and waste time, fall down to get in the prize isn’t for the taking. the lights aren’t shining for you. if you’re gonna take the stage, have something to say, ‘cuz every dream comes with a trade (C) the power of a picture, is stronger than a stone you only see the blind man, when you stand alone so play the string fiercely, tell the stories til they’re sold pound and pound and pound the ground, until every shadow knows you might make the deal. you might find the fame. if you’re gonna play, be strong enought to stay. so play it like its ending. play it like it’s done. play it like it’s everything ‘cuz it needs to be enough. about

Karn K Music Austin, Texas

Love to tell stories, let the movie play in your head. Wrote my first song driving in the middle of the night. No light to write by, so I had to sing the poem that was in my head to try to remember it. By the time i got home, I had my first song.
